Temptation: Fake News Alert

Temptation is a certainty. It’s happening today. It’s in the routine. It’s embedded in our habits. Temptation is something of which we’ve given unlimited access in our routines. We’re comfortable with temptation because we believe we’re in control.

But, with all love and care, I declare to you it’s a trap! Fake news designed to steal your life.

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The question then is whether I will (you will) choose to take the way out? Or will I (will you) simply stay in the current of culture?
It takes guts to look at temptation and see it for it’s true identity.

A trap!

I am not a victim of circumstances. You are not a victim of circumstances. I and you, we all have one of the greatest powers we will ever hold. It is the power to choose life. To say no to temptation. To run from the trap. To say yes to Jesus. To follow Him into abundant life.

We have the power to see temptation as false advertising. Most of us have already been suckered in at least once. We’ve already proven the claims to be false.

Dad wisdom: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

God will make a way of escape. He already has made a way of escape. Jesus opened the narrow way for you when He rose out of the grave.

Wake up!

Be aware.

Be alert.

Pray.

Read scripture.

Turn, please, from temptation (it’s a trap of death) and embrace the way of escape.

(Fake = False & False = Fake)

Embrace the power of choice. Today, cry out. “Jesus help me!”

He’s already reaching for your hand.

Look up!

Turn off the fake news of temptation.

Embrace life.

Eyes on Jesus and Shine
~Lisa

Today I have teamed up with Kate Motaung and her highly talented crew of Five Minute Friday writers. The word prompt is fake. Set the clock for 5 minutes and write.

Truth in my advertising: I had already written most of this piece on temptation and embracing life instead. I waited for the Friday word prompt and then set my timer to spend 5 minutes adding detail related to the word fake. I trusted that God already knew the word before He prompted my writing on temptation.

Thank you for stopping by. I pray you are encouraged to look up and fix your eyes on Jesus and shine!
