Day 130. Focus - Jesus. Eyes on Him. How else can I live in peace? Unless my heart be tethered to my Lord, I will lose heart. Unless my feet remain within my Good Shepherd's pasture, I will lose my way. Unless my eyes remain trained on His eyes of love, I will stray for … Continue reading Tethered
For what can be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did … Continue reading If they are all, am I not without excuse?
This scripture is sure to raise an eyebrow and cause our modern day skin to crawl and a shudder to run down our spines as we are justified in rejecting the idea of women being purchased as a bride. I'm in full agreement. Not at all should we think it's ok in any way shape or form for another human being to be purchased by another.
As I interact with precious sojourners learning their way in southern America, I am reminded of my childhood in South Miami. My friends, from 2nd grade on, were most often 2nd generation Cuban. Their parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles fled from Cuba to find freedom in America. I enjoy rich childhood memories of visiting in their homes, listening to their fluid Spanish with dramatic tones and gestures and I delighted in their delicious native foods.
I see the vessel containing, what appears to me, to be the last drops of faith-oil. My life circumstances feel like a drought with no end in sight. Without a trace of a rain cloud, the lack of opportunity threatens to last beyond what I feel sure I will be able to endure.
I didn't even realize my voice is a marker for her - a landmark of sorts. Just like I look for landmarks to guide me as I travel about, she uses sounds and her walking cane - actually she is using every one of her other senses to develop landmarks - to guide her steps.
Good Shepherd, my Shepherd, You prepare for all Your lambs the best foods - no matter the pasture land. And I get to come to Your banquet table to dine with You in Light, Peace and JOY because You Shepherd have commanded the enemy to stand at bay while we feast together.
Because we belong to Jesus (we are His and He is ours) we are able to meet overwhelming circumstances face to face with confidence and bold JOY. Jesus is our example. He encountered crowds of physically, emotionally and mentally broken and hurting people who pressed in on Him everywhere He traveled. We carry God's compassion, just as Jesus did; so we don't have to duck from any person in distress.
Trying to control everything has been wearing me out. If you ever struggle with this you will know what I mean. It’s tiring. It sucks the life out of you. But Jesus came to give life, and every single day is a choice to accept the life he gives, every single day is a choice to follow. You don’t have to worry about it, you can always wait for it. You can always stop what your doing, you can always give it up, give it to god, and wait “patiently” for him. It restores your soul and builds a kind of faith and trust in the Lord that no one can ever take away from you, no matter what happens.
