Realizations

With the arrival of tiny humans comes the stark realization that they are constantly learning. From the moment their little brains begin to fire with sensations and movement, the smallest image bearers among us are constantly taking in data.

We wearily lament that they are like sponges absorbing all they see and hear. It’s humbling!

It’s overwhelming to consider all the good we want our littles to hold in their understanding. And it is equally daunting to think of all the information and experiences from which we hope to protect them.

To become a life long learner is a worthy goal.

With the birth of a baby granddaughter I’ve realized the re-birth of my passion for songwriting. Songs teach. Music soothes. And the combination create an effective method for remembering.

Music, I can already tell, is something that has captured the delight of our baby girl. Me too, sweet princess!

For as long as I can remember, songs have been the soundtrack of my memories. Songs that remind us of all that is true and right and good often bubble up as an encouragement to our aching souls. We remember the seasons of sadness or loneliness as that certain song plays through the airwaves. Other times, songs of celebration and rejoicing spring up as a party for our feet, mind and heart.

Songs are the soundtrack to our memories.

I hope most everyone reading can agree that music shapes us, and in some small or great way, songs are teachers.

And so, somewhat spontaneously, as I ponder the truths I pray our baby girl will always hold near and dear to her being, a couple of little ditties have come into realization as black words on a white screen. My prayer is that these songs will make it into the soundtrack of her memories.

And I pray we might have more children join our family creating more words for songs that shape, build up and encourage the next generations.

Jesus is the Light of The World

~~~~~
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
so He tells us in His Word,
“I Am the Light of the World.”
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
He gives us light so we can see the way.
He gives us light and we are not afraid.
Jesus is our Light!
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
So He tells us in His Word,
“I Am the Bread of Life.”
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
He gives us bread so we can grow.
He gives us bread and we can share it.
Jesus is our Bread!
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
You know Jesus wants us to know Him.
So He tells us in His Word,
“I am the Living Water.”
You know Jesus wants us to know Him!
He gives us water so we won’t thirst.
He gives us water and we can take a bath.
Jesus is our Water.
Light. Bread. Water.
These are some of the things we need
every single day.
And Jesus wants us to have them.
You know Jesus wants us to know Him!
  1. Very nice song. Do you have music to accompany it?
