One-word. Saver.
โJesus said to him, โToday salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.โโ

I think of a saver as kind of an old fashioned lifestyle word. It used to be that a person could be described as a saver or a spender.
The values of hard work, earning an income, budgeting and saving were taught daily in our home. We clipped coupons, paid bills and saved the rest. In our family we were savers.

And we collected S&H green stamps. Every time Mom did her grocery shopping the cashier handed her change, a receipt and a bunch of stamps – the kind you had to lick to make sticky.
In addition to the stamps, we kept a supply of empty S&H green stamp booklets. Once home from shopping I usually took accepted the joyous responsibility of licking the stamps and pasting them into the booklets.
The goal of this saver program was to trade filled stamp booklets for products. Household items, necessities and trinkets all available for the sacrifice of your long collected & treasured quick saver books.

All of this sounds so old school in our technology-saturated 21st century world. However, I promise this saver program was highly motivating, and boy was it fun to take a trip with Mom to the redemption center.
Thatโs right, the store where we traded in the stamps was called the redemption center.
This memory of saving and redeeming from days long passed reminds me of Jesus. He took our not enough to save ourselves and exchanged Himself in our place so that we by the acceptance of His love gift can live.
We get to really live in relationship with Him forever. This is a saving and redemption offer I can truly get excited about!
Jesus said He came to earth, God in the flesh, to seek and save that which was lost. We could not save ourselves, and so He is Savior. The only way you and I are able to truly live is to have our sin-stained flesh redeemed by the perfect blood of Christ.

Jesus.
Savior.
Redeemer.

This one is dedicated to my Mom who saved coupons and paid cash and collected S&H green stamps and drove me to the redemption store. Thanks, Mom!

Thank you so much for taking time to read and comment ๐๐งก๐
We didn’t have S&H but there were similar collect and save programs at our stores. What a fun memory – and great object lesson!
Oh, a lamp! I think my mom always got dishesโฆ๐คฃ๐
I can remember going to redeem them with a sixteen year old aunt who had just learned to drive. I must have been about six or so. I think we got a lamp.
Thank you for taking time to read and comment!!
Oh yay, isnโt it fun to remember?

Yes! I remember my mom collecting S&H Green Stamps too! ๐ I loved putting them in the booklet. I can still envision it so clearly even now.
