Day 24: Do you ever wish you could {revise} a chapter from your life?

“Remember not the former things,     nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing;     now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness     and rivers in the desert.  Isaiah 43:18-19 esv {Revise} - make corrections, change, or edit.  A do-over. Who, if offered, … Continue reading Day 24: Do you ever wish you could {revise} a chapter from your life?

Day 23: Is my life’s {work} defined by what I do or whom I serve?

The current work drought for my man feels much like the farmers' in the time of the Judges who had land, seed, skill, and knowledge to grow crops in their fields, and yet they could not control the weather.  For all their effort, working hard to bring a harvest, the stuff of life beyond their control overwhelmed and a famine season was the result.

Day 22: Is not your yoke easy and your burden {light}?

This scripture is sure to raise an eyebrow and cause our modern day skin to crawl and a shudder to run down our spines as we are justified in rejecting the idea of women being purchased as a bride.  I'm in full agreement.  Not at all should we think it's ok in any way shape or form for another human being to be purchased by another.

Day 21: Will I {give} my sandal in pledge?

“Then I can’t redeem it,” the family redeemer replied, “because this might endanger my own estate. You redeem the land; I cannot do it.”   Now in those days it, was the custom in Israel for anyone transferring a right of purchase to remove his sandal and hand it to the other party. This publicly validated … Continue reading Day 21: Will I {give} my sandal in pledge?

Day 20: How can we {discover} streams in the desert?

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God!  How unsearchable His judgments and untraceable His ways!  Romans 11:33 hcsb {Discover} What does it mean to discover? To search out. To seek to find.  I think of Christopher Columbus.  With Thanksgiving coming soon, I think of the Pilgrims.  A people … Continue reading Day 20: How can we {discover} streams in the desert?

Day 19: How {brave} are you, dear sojourner, seeking a better life in a foreign land.

As I interact with precious sojourners learning their way in southern America, I am reminded of my childhood in South Miami.  My friends, from 2nd grade on, were most often 2nd generation Cuban.  Their parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles fled from Cuba to find freedom in America.  I enjoy rich childhood memories of visiting in their homes, listening to their fluid Spanish with dramatic tones and gestures and I delighted in their delicious native foods.

Day 18: May I {share} what I have with you?

After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.  All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had.  The apostles testified powerfully to the … Continue reading Day 18: May I {share} what I have with you?

Day 17: Women, to {grow} and bear good fruit, don’t you see we need each other?

“I will do whatever you say,” Ruth answered.  So she went down to the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her to do.  Ruth 3:5-6 niv Afterwards, Naomi said to Ruth:  “How did it go, my daughter?”  Then (Ruth) told (Naomi) everything Boaz had done for her and added, “He gave me these six measures of barley, saying, ‘Don’t … Continue reading Day 17: Women, to {grow} and bear good fruit, don’t you see we need each other?

Day 16: What if we could {read} the script in advance?

She replied, "Wait, my daughter until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest but will settle the matter today."  Ruth 3:18 As I am spending these 31 days of October reading through the book of Ruth, I am using the word prompts for each day supplied by Kate Motaung … Continue reading Day 16: What if we could {read} the script in advance?

Day 12: Before I was formed, did you {write} my story?

Your eyes saw my unformed body;     all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God!     How vast is the sum of them!   Psalm 139:16-17 I was pondering the word for today {write} from Kate's list of 31 Five-Minute Friday prompts, … Continue reading Day 12: Before I was formed, did you {write} my story?
