God speaks. God speaks to us. God speaks to us in ways He knows that we will understand, and will follow because He knows us intricately. God is our Creator, and He is the one who designed our communication system. And so, it only makes sense that different people hear Godโs message for them through His word and by His Spirit at different times via various formats.
Iโve often said that God speaks to me in dreams at night because itโs the only time He can get my full attention. That tells you a little bit about my busy mind and somewhat hyper active personality, which have honestly been a struggle for me. Yet what Iโve learned over my 60+ years of life is that God loves me just as I am, and He meets me where He knows He can find me. Iโm still being formed and trained by His kind intentions. And that, my friends, is comforting!

How thrilling and comforting it was to my heart to learn from my Dad that He too learns at night through dreams. He and I have often worked on projects together. We both like to weave with cane, and from time to time we get stumped.
I remember one particular day we found a mistake in our weaving because we got busy talking and not paying attention to the details of the process. We spent almost as much time undoing our work, but Dad started to chuckle. And then I began to laugh and pretty soon we both had tears running down our cheeks. It was a good lesson for me.

We called it a day, went upstairs and had a cup of coffee. We continued to talk through our weaving mistake that caused the issue. After a few minutes, Dad indicated that he wasnโt going to worry about it anymore. โTomorrow is another day!โ he declared.
The next day when I showed up to start weaving Dad had a big smile on his face. He told me that before going to bed he mentioned to Jesus that we were stumped on our project. He turned it over to Jesus to figure out a solution then rolled over and went to sleep. Dad then explained that when he woke up he had the answer. He dreamed the process in his sleep, and he knew exactly what we did wrong and how to fix our process.

I learned a lot that day. We had a successful day of weaving, and we still enjoyed conversation. Dadโs vulnerability to share his story with me helped me understand more about myself. I learned that day that God loves us so much that He wants to help us. He wants to commune with us. And He will find a way to get through to us. We are His design. And He knows how to reach us.
Pondering with Jesus:
Do you have a situation today that seems so tangled you canโt find a solution?
Offer it to Jesus. Tell Him you made a mistake or something went wrong today, and you donโt know how to fix it.
Take time to listen. Donโt give up listening after a minute or five or an hour. Let your heart be tuned to listening for His answers.
Take time to read His word. Read through this whole passage in Acts 16. Paul was stumped. He wasnโt sure what to do.
What do you learn from Paul in this situation? How can you apply this information to your own situation and relationship with God.
I promise, God wants you to know He loves you. He cares about your situation whether it was your fault or not. He has a solution, and He wants to help you. Will you open your heart to Jesus?

Thank you for coming by Natalie, and taking time to read my post. I havenโt yet been to Yellowstone, but itโs on my bucket list. We love to hike trails in our beautiful deserts and enjoy the grandeur of ocean, sand and cliffs. God has blessed us with a beautiful Earth. I love how our Father speaks to each of us in the way we can best hear Him.๐ชด

Thanks for this lovely, encouraging post. It’s interesting to me how God speaks to and teaches us so individually, in concert with how he created us. For you, there’s dreaming and weaving. For me, it’s walking in the mountains, primarily Yellowstone. He’s done good work in me there.
Awwww, thank you for visiting here Joanne! This, of which you write, is why I love Godโs word. Itโs so rich and deep and meets in our current day with examples of Godโs power and grace for whatever we are facing. He speaks to you in a unique voice, manner, dialect so that You can comprehend with certainty it is Him๐ธ Thank you for acknowledging our caning work. Dad needed repairs and couldnโt find anyone to do the work so he bought DVDs and taught himself and me. Discipleship in action. Heโs a talented and persevering man, my Dad. Iโm fortunate to have him in my life!
Lisa, I am so glad you suggested reading Acts 16, which I did. The Spirit of the Lord kept them from going where they wanted; then Paul had the dream and knew the will of God and where to go. I needed the reminder this morning that at times, it is the Lord who prevents certain things in our lives. It is for our good and by His will. He will in time show us where to go or what to do. Thank you for reminding me that Jesus does indeed have the solution and I need to trust Him and wait. Blessings!
PS – Your cane weaving is beautiful! It is so hard to find someone to repair or redo chairs. You and dad have a skill for sure!
