Spoiler alert: God wins

We now live on the west coast of North America, which has so many benefits. New Yearโ€™s Eve culminates at 9 PM EST. Hallelujah! We can celebrate with friends and be asleep by 10 PM Pacific. Itโ€™s fabulous!

The difficulty can sometimes be found in spoilers such as the final score on a football game we recorded early in the day to watch in the evening. Itโ€™s important to stay away from social media and ESPN on these particular days. Sometimes a well meaning text comes through and oops – spoiler alert!

Hereโ€™s something Iโ€™ve been pondering. The Bible is full of spoilers. And Iโ€™m about to add one for you here.

God wins!

And those who bear His name are of His family. And we win too.

And hereโ€™s the very best news: God wants you to be in His family. He wants the fullness of reconciliation with all His creation.

And thatโ€™s why God sent His One and Only Son – the Word from before creation, through whom all has been created, came to earth in the flesh. He came for us.

He ministered to people. Served people. Taught those who leaned in. Healed multitudes and set more free from oppression and darkness. He came to bring people like us into His family.

He is Jesus.

Heโ€™s still ministering to us, praying and healing. Heโ€™s still calling all of us to Himself.

And Spoiler Alert: Heโ€™s coming back.

Heโ€™s coming to take His family home.

And when He does He will come as conquering King and will subject all things under His authority. Evil will be demolished.

I know because I read the end of His book. You can read His book too. He left it for us so we could know the good news. He wants us to have the SPOILER.

Just like accidentally finding out the final score before getting to watch the game, we know Godโ€™s final outcome. But we donโ€™t know the details that take place in between. My dear man and I, weโ€™re still gonna watch that game because we want to know the rest of the story.

And thatโ€™s what following Jesus through this life is all about. I donโ€™t know what will happen next, but I know the ending is good.

โ€And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, โ€œLook! Godโ€™s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. โ€˜He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more deathโ€™ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.โ€โ€œ
โ€ญโ€ญRevelationโ€ฌ โ€ญ21โ€ฌ:โ€ญ3โ€ฌ-โ€ญ4โ€ฌ โ€ญNIVโ€ฌโ€ฌ

Friend, are you adopted into Godโ€™s family?

Have you read His book? Do you know the end of the story is good?

Do you want in?

Just tell Jesus right where you dwell. He knows your heart and He will show you what to do next.

If you want a clue, get a Bible and start reading.

Live Love Brightly,

Lisa

  1. Agreed–this is one spoiler alert we’re so thankful to have received. Praise God for his reassurance that’s completely trustworthy because of all the promises we’ve seen him faithfully keep in the past (Hebrews 10:23)!

  2. Absolutely! Thank you, Lesley, for visiting and taking time to respond. His words of assurance that He will never leave us and indeed is returning for us are life to our weary hearts. I appreciate you.

  5. This is one situation where I like a spoiler! It gives so much hope to know that God wins in the end and to have reassurance about how the story ends!
