Suntanned Feet Man

โ€œI like to walk barefoot.โ€

Randy Brittain

Everyone in our neighborhood wants to know why he walks barefoot. When we lived in Georgia our neighbors wanted to know why he walked barefoot. Itโ€™s a conversation starter for sure. And there are plenty of ways to answer that one question.

He simply likes to walk barefoot. He likes suntanned feet. He likes that people wonder why. He likes not fighting the flip flops that just wonโ€™t stay on his particular feet. He likes that people think itโ€™s weird, odd, or unusual. He likes being mysterious!

However, there is one main reason, and it has everything to do with a conversation that began a restoration process in our marriage 14+ years ago. Yes, it was a conversation about suntanned feet. And I argued that he has a choice between living as a suntanned feet man becoming a grumpy old man. Additionally, I queried how that choice would look on me if I were to follow his lead.

Suffice it to say, the word pictures were effective, and unbeknownst to me the option I presented struck a nerve. Professional marriage counseling was pursued, and we both worked hard at forgiving, restoring and cultivating the marriage we more-so desired. And that has everything to do with suntanned feet.

Morning reading and reflection for me and my suntanned feet man.

It takes a minute to unpack, but ask us sometime, if you really want to know. We would love to invite you to our table and share how he became a barefoot suntanned feet man. Itโ€™s a beautiful story; the way this one decision changed the trajectory of our relationship.

So unless the pavement is scorching hot, neighbors and visitors will likely recognize my suntanned feet man walking the neighborhood.

Until next time, hugs from the happy couple,

Lisa and Randy
