Dear sister, get dressed & pray

Dear sister,

Put on the full armor of God. And pray. Our battle in this broken and corrupted world is not against flesh and blood.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Dear sister,

Simply talk with Him who made you, chose you, rescued you, saved you, renewed you, and daily provides for you. Talk to Him about all the things that need fixing, correcting, and are worth fighting for from your vantage point. Tell Him what bothers you about this world we’re living in while you are yet dressed in Him.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

And listen.
Praise Him. Listen for His still small whispers in your inner being.

And then go out into your day in this broken down world dressed in Him. And continue to talk with Him about everything that bothers you. Then Listen.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18

Dear sister,

Simply talk to Him. Dressed in Him. Listening for His direction. Watching Him move in places, people and situations you’ve brought into your conversations with just Him.

Be amazed by Him.

Because if you’ve only been talking to Him about that person or those people or that situation then it can only be Him when change happens before your very eyes!

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Dear sister,

Our culture has taught us that getting dressed and praying is weak. This seemingly milk toast behavior makes us ineffective. That listening to God is fantasy. Oh, and how about actually obeying and submitting to God in humility? Now that’s crazy talk – weak, delusional and ineffective!

Dear sister,

Who told you that?

We’ve gulped the lie, many of us girls, that to get dressed, pray, stay alert, keep talking to God and watch for His moves will set us on the sidelines and cause us to be irrelevant. Nothing is further from the truth!

The strongest women we can ever be is found in Him. Scripture tells us how to be strong. We are to be found in Christ. Dressed in Him. Talking continually with Him. Listening to and obeying Him. In union with Him, Christ.

And then, this is the best part, watch what He does. Because He heard you. He saw you. He walks with you. He hears you. He is strong in you! He battles for you.

And together you will celebrate the victory because you dressed in His full armor and talked to Him about all the messed up stuff. Just you and Him. This is what makes you strong, purposeful and effective!

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”
‭‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
