Morning Communion: Who owns the glory?

November 1, 2025

Pondering on a full moon setting. Anticipating the next occurrence of such beauty and brilliance. Iโ€™m not promised the opportunity to behold another full moon.

The full moon 4 AM

Awakened in the earliest morning hours by the light streaming into our bedroom window. It was too bright to ignore. Pulling myself up and venturing out into the courtyard, a thought drifted purposefully across my thoughts as I delighted in the brilliance of this morningโ€™s full moon.

โ€œThe moon has no glory in and of itself. The moon radiates the glory of the light source. The source owns the light. The source receives the glory!โ€

The full moon 4:20 AM

I am fascinated by a full moon. Itโ€™s a simple pleasure to become mesmerized by the brilliance, and sometimes interesting colors, as in a harvest moon or a blood moon. And yet, I remember the science, and I know, the moon would not shine at all without the sunโ€™s radiance.

Full moon 4:45 AM

The moon does shine and radiate glory, but not in and of itself. The moon radiates the glory of the light source. The source owns the light. The source receives the glory!

This moon and sun concept sounds familiar. Jesus said something similar.to His disciples (and to us).

โ€œโ€œYou are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.โ€
โ€ญโ€ญMatthewโ€ฌ โ€ญ5โ€ฌ:โ€ญ14โ€ฌ, โ€ญ16โ€ฌ โ€ญNIVโ€ฌโ€ฌ

{You are the Light of the world radiating the glory of God if the Holy Spirit lives in you.}

Lord, Jesus, thank youโ€ฆ
Thank you for waking me up.
Thank you for breath.
Thank you for this moon that reminds me You are Creator.
You are Sovereign and in charge.
You are mighty to save.
Thank you for this time to get to know You better.
Thank you for hearing my prayers.
Thank you for loving me first.

Lord God, let Your Holy Spirit hover over all Your creation todayโ€ฆ Hover over all Your image bearers today and open their eyes to see You and recognize that You are the One who saves.

Thank You for rescuing me from the kingdom of darkness. Thank You for inviting me onto Your team and giving me grace and strength to serve You by serving others. Thank You for being the True Light source and because of You, I am the Light of the world. Help me to shine Your life giving radiance wherever You send me. Thank You Immanuel for Your withness every day.

Thank You for loving me first.
I love You too.
