A Sabbath Lament:

A call to Worship

Good morning!

It’s Sabbath Day.

And we need You Jesus. We’re tired and weary from putting it all out there for the job, the family and the fun. We’ve spent ourselves on screens and activities. We come to Sunday tired, and empty. Like those who encountered Jesus on Earth, we meet You empty, and bedraggled. We are all lame in our own fleshly ways.

Lord Jesus, we simply call upon Your name and bow in Your presence.

🎶Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there’s just something about that name.

Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain… 🎵🎶

We think… Actually, we delude ourselves in a modern techno-culture, that we can figure it all out on our own. And this is not new. It started in the Garden when Eve was tempted to believe she could know as much as You, God, and gave into the temptation to become self-sufficient.

Is that really what happened to Eve? She had it all and everything was good. But with just a question from the Deceiver, did she think that there might be more? What if there’s more? What if God knows there’s more for us, but He’s withholding from us?

We’ve all been tempted by some sort of selfishness ever since that one fall to temptation. We’ve all doubted Your goodness at one time or another. We’ve all believed there must be more, and we’ve all looked for it someplace other than through You, God.

But we are undone as we recognize that we are in the presence of the Author of Life. Don’t let us miss You today. Holy Spirit would You open distracted, consumed ears to hear You calling us by name. Just as You know the name of every star You ever created and hung just the perfect location, You know the very hairs of our heads. And You know the ones without. You know the fingerprints of every person You have ever created. You know us by name. You read our DNA, and You get our personalities.

Lord, God, You have a message for Your flock today. Minister to every teacher of Your Word today. Preach through our Shepherds. Teach through Your Scribes. Wash us by Your word. And hear our confessions, Lord. You are only worthy. Worthy. Worthy of all praise, glory and honor.

We adore You Jesus. We exalt Your name, and worship You alone as King above all kingdoms. Thank You for purposely being WITH us. You name is God with us. Thank You for wanting to be with us as Your name.

Thank You for loving us… me.

I love You too.

Eyes on Jesus and SHINE, and get some rest!
