You know some things happen when you step outside your comfort zone.
I’m pausing for a second to give you a moment to ponder the previous statement.
You know some things happen when you step outside your comfort zone.

So how many of us (be honest) just ran through a short list of all the terrible ‘what ifs’ that COULD happen if you/we stepped outside of your comfort zone?
What if the most uncomfortable spot is actually your comfort zone?
What if stepping out is actually breaking free?
What if life is actually mostly good and maybe better in some ways outside your comfort zone.
***********
I’m not an avid biker these days, but at home I enjoy riding trails (bike paths) recreationally. These two weeks away from home, I’m taking advantage of having a bicycle ready and able along with the convenience of bike paths and parks within two blocks of our temporary home.
It’s not my bike so I’ve had to adjust to the mechanics. The air is drier and the sun more intense so I have had to wake up earlier.

The topography is more flat than home, but when you turn a corner and fly down hill for a mile you realize there will be a slow incline to pay on the mile back.
I love my comfort zone, but I’m also willing to walk outside of it. Often. Because I can never truly know if the what ifs are more good than bad unless I try.
Sure unexpected things crop up like all down hill for a mile equals all up hill for another mile. However, if I hadn’t needed to stop to catch my breath I would have missed the beauty of the desert Oasis tucked along the path.
If I hadn’t needed to stop for water because of the heat I would have missed a brief friendly conversation with a nice couple at the park.

If I hadn’t been awake early to hydrate and get some protein before biking, I would have missed the blessing of conversing with the pool man who is so thankful to live in America.
Do you love your comfort zone? Do you long for different? Does the voice of the ‘what if’ monster scream danger every time you begin to venture out?
What do you think you could do to shush the voice of discouragement? What if you asked this question of yourself…
What if my comfort zone is my prison, and freedom is just beyond the door? What if I confessed to someone that I’m struggling to be free? What if I would simply open my mouth and utter these words, “Jesus, help!”
I’m praying for you today to ask for help. I’m praying for you to step outside your comfort zone and into the light. I’m praying for you to experience freedom. I’m praying for you to be engulfed in peace.
In Jesus’ name and for His glory, may it be so…
Eyes on Jesus… You’re shining!
