Expectant for 22

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,
Hebrews 12:28 NIV

Each year for the last approximately ten years, I’ve asked Holy Spirit to highlight a word or phrase for the upcoming year. I ask Him for it, and then I read His Word. I ask, and then I listen. And listen.

It seems each year around Thanksgiving a particular word, phrase and/or scripture seems to be repeated. It’s in every song, sermon, devotional and seemingly every conversation. At the very least, as the end of the year approaches, I become aware of a theme.

This year I have become aware of this theme…
A.bide
W.atch
E.xuberance
AWE

I like to paint my word. It's a sweet visual reminder throughout the year.

Simultaneously, I have been in tune with this theme…
A.dore
W.ait
E.xpect

AWE.

It all adds up to me being in AWE of God as I abide in Him and adore Him. Being in AWE of God as I watch Him and wait on Him. Being in AWE of God with exuberance and expectation.

2022 is going to be an AWEsome year in the truest meaning as I keep my eyes on Jesus!

Come Lord Jesus and do what only You can do. For Your glory. For Your fame. In Your name.  And for Your Kingdom come to earth.
Amen.

Ponders:

Have you asked the Lord for a word, a scripture, or a phrase on which to ponder in this next year?

If you have one, and you’re willing, I’d love for you to share.

If not… Perhaps now, you might want to just take a few moments to get still before the Lord, and simply ask.

Maybe something as simple as this, “Lord, what’s on your heart for this next year? Would you share it with me so that I can ponder with you in 2022?”

I bless you now with eyes on Jesus… You will shine!
