Want a Guarantee?

I have not the capability to guarantee much of anything in life. However, of this one topic, I feel pretty confident of a guarantee.

What I plan will change. And when I think for a moment I control my days, I’m guaranteed a lesson to confirm the opposite is true.

The plan I make today is highly likely to receive some type of change by tomorrow. Additionally, the more detail my plan, I can guarantee a higher probability that a change will occur.

Knowing the above is routinely helpful as I am typically a big picture planner. For the most part I am one of those interesting people who mostly welcomes change. Change, I find refreshing.

(Don’t get me wrong I’m not anti-plan. I welcome a detail plan as long as someone else is in charge of the details. And I am exceedingly grateful for all the detail planners in my life, who help me find my way.)

Truly, we are able to look at the masterful design of our human bodies and recognize that change keeps the life blood flowing. I don’t understand how my heart muscle works, but I am grateful it forces co2 out of my body to make room for rich oxygenated blood.

Looking again to the creative design of God, I’m grateful for the changing tides of the ocean, as well as the many phases of the moon. The seasons change and create different landscapes and forms of beauty.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV

In my daily work, I enjoy finding new fabrics and colors and patterns. The creative aspects of my brain are energized through the work of my fingers to transform old comfortable furniture pieces into new treasures. Better yet, is to share creative ideas with friends and stretch each other with new skills.

Each year, I look forward to the end of the school bus noise, which marks the beginning of summer break. And this past week, I welcomed that old familiar sound with a smile because it’s time for a change. A new school year for some. For many families this time of year signifies a first or a last. Plans were made for the summer which were not completely fulfilled, yet with the change of seasons there is hope – always hope.

Things change. I make plans, but hold them loosely. More loosely in these days than the many gone by. I hold out hope and trust in my heavenly Father that the illnesses and suffering which have impacted the lives of many people I love will soon be changed to a life renewed by healing.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
    but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21 CSB

Change means refreshment. Healing. Repair. Restoration. Change means life if you are called by the name of Jesus. His plans for us are good. He is for us. His love endures forever… even when we walk with Him through the valley of the shadow of death. He is good and His plan is always perfect. Guaranteed!

  1. Amen. I am so thankful that HIS guarantee is so solid–my guarantee feels like it’s subject to the change of the wind. But oh what beauty there is to hold onto His hope and His promises. I am so glad to read your words again, dear friend! Praying for you and your loved ones today.

    1. Bettie, thank you for finding me again and joining a sweet conversation in faith! Much love and continued prayers of grace for you… Lisa

  2. Good thoughts to ponder. I have not been fond of change in the past. But like you I’m learning I want to “move w the cloud”. And I’m reminded in “Him I live and move and have my being.” So changing w Jesus is good. Grateful this morning that He is at work in me to change me from the inside good. Thank you Lisa, Journey Friend.

    1. Hi Ruthie! Thanks for joining me here again. It feels like an old meeting place, and I am smiling at finding friends here. I love you much, Lisa
